Concrete Sealing

Definition

Concrete sealing is applying a penetrating or film-forming sealer to cleaned, dry concrete to resist oil, water, and stains and to make future cleaning easier.

Penetrating sealers soak in and protect without changing the look, while film-forming sealers add sheen and richer color but can show wear and need recoating. The right pick depends on the surface, the traffic, and what the customer expects to see.

As with pavers, prep decides the outcome. The slab must be clean, free of efflorescence, and dry to spec before sealing. Done well, sealing turns a one-time wash into a recurring relationship of reseal and maintenance work.
