Flatwork
Definition
Flatwork is the horizontal concrete and paved surfaces a crew cleans - driveways, sidewalks, patios, pool decks, and parking areas - usually done with a surface cleaner.
Flatwork is measured and priced by the square foot, which makes accurate measurement central to the bid. A surface cleaner does the bulk of the work evenly and fast, with a wand for edges and detail.
The variables that move the price are the soiling level, oil and rust spots that need separate treatment, and access. A clean driveway prices very differently from one with years of oil and organic staining, so good operators inspect before they quote.
