How to Get Off the Truck in a Pressure Washing Business
The short answer
Get off the truck only when the released owner time has a valuable job and the field operation can run a defined scope without routing every decision back to you. Document the current work, verify a lead technician’s competence, define decision and escalation boundaries, transfer one bounded operating package at a time, and compare planned with actual safety, scope, time, cost, quality, and customer outcomes. “Getting off the truck” can mean three different things: no longer performing routine field work, no longer leading every crew, or building a company that can operate for a defined period without the owner handling daily exceptions. Pick the target before hiring around the phrase.

Count the owner interventions on representative jobs for several completed cycles. Do not record only phone calls; include silent rescues such as rewriting scopes, correcting schedules, locating documents, fixing equipment readiness, calming customers, or finishing closeout records at night.
Classify each intervention:
